Cape Point and penguin tour information:

This African penguin was previously called the jackass penguin because of the sound they make that is very similar to a donkey bray. The penguin colony is the only place in the world where penguins and humans live together side by side. It started with 2 birds in the late 1970's and the colony now is home to about 4500 birds. The entrance fee is R 70.00 for adults and R10 for children aged 11 and under.

The penguins are most often excluded from the guided Cape Point tour as we can drop the group off at the penguins to view the penguins on their own and make their own way back to their transport or accommodation.
